Although drains provide years of trouble-free service, over time the rubber or fiber gaskets that help seal water dry out and cause leaks.
The easiest way to replace a drain is while the shower base is removed from the shower stall and the bottom side of the shower base can be accessed. Sometimes, the base can be accessed through the ceiling from the floor below. Loosen the drain body locking wring from the underside of the shower pan.
Remove the ring, then pry the drain body off the 2-inch shower waste pipe. Clean the top and bottom surfaces of the shower pan to remove old putty, rubber, caulking or fibrous material. Remove the locking ring, strainer and all washers and gaskets from the new drain assembly and lay them out on a work table in the order shown in the installation instructions that came with the kit.
Roll some plumber's putty in your hands until it is soft and pliable, then apply it to the underside of the drain body flange. Insert the drain body through the hole in the shower pan. Install the drain body plastic washer and locknut from the underside of the pan and tighten. Remove excess plumber's putty that squeezes out. Insert the rubber into the drain body, ensuring it goes around the 2-inch waste pipe in the center of the drain without twisting or tearing.
Screw the caulking nut into the drain body and tighten it using the supplied flat tool and screwdriver. The caulking nut squeezes down on the rubber washer and creates a water-tight seal. Install the new strainer onto the drain body, either by snapping it into place or with the supplied screws, depending on the model.

About the Author.A visible water stain running across your ceiling just below a shower area indicates the potential that your shower drain is leaking. Under your shower pan is an adjoining drain body that connects to the visible strainer body, usually designed as a small metal grate.
The shower water that enters the drain should exit through the attached plumbing, but the gasket that resides between the strainer body and drain body can become cracked over time. Rather than undergoing significant construction, repair this faulty gasket without removing the shower pan. Detach the screws holding the metal grate to the shower drain strainer with a screwdriver.
Depending on the shower's design, the grate may have two or four screws. Use caution during removal: Do not drop the screws down the pipe.
Place a pair of tongue and groove pliers into the center of the drain strainer. Hold the pliers so that they press against each side of the opening. Turn the pliers in a counterclockwise direction to loosen the strainer body.
Remove the strainer body from the opening and place aside. Hand pull any old plumber's putty from the removed strainer body. It may come off as hardened chunks, depending on the age of the installation. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove any putty that is stuck in the strainer's threads.
The strainer body must be clean when reinstalled. Gently press the drain body, located below the removed strainer body, to the side of the opening to reveal its rim. This drain body connects directly to your drain pipe. The rim has a flat black gasket. Pull the gasket from the opening and discard. If it is difficult to see into the opening, use a flashlight to illuminate the area. Hand rock the drain body within the opening to remove any debris from the rim.
The rim must be clean so the new gasket adheres to the surface.Leaking shower drain?

You don't have to call a plumber or handyman to get the job done. With the right tools and cleaners, drain removal is simple enough for any household handyman! Before you try to remove a shower drain, wipe it dry with a towel, then spray it with a lubricant like WD or a silicone drain lubricant. Let it sit for minutes, then examine the drain for any screws you need to remove and take them out if you find any.
Insert 2 nose pliers into the drain openings and grip the plier handles firmly, then twist them both to the left to begin loosening the drain.
Continue twisting the drain until it is completely loosened, then lift the drain out of its place. For tips on how to replace or repair the drain, read on! Did this summary help you? Academics who are prone to bearishness - surprise. They say: "The ERP will be below average for the next 10 years, just 1. On the upside, bullish academics (who are fewer) produce bullish ERPs with their own biases.
Still, bullish or bearish, all ERP projections are as much bunk as anyone else's long-term forecasts: bias-based guesstimates, nothing more. Another ERP red flag. ERP models usually predict 2 or 2. They can easily check history. Looking backward, ERPs are very wildly variable. After all, normal stock returns are extreme, not average.Shower Drain Removal and Installation.
